How I Clean My Brushes

This is a simple tutorial I did on cleaning brushes.
There are thousands videos like this but I just wanted to do one to get hang of how I use my editing program for future video-editing-skills.
Here you go with my brush cleaning video, nothing fancy at all, but I hope you'll like it!

Basically I use regular soap instead of brush shampoo since I just find it as good. For real hair brushes I use my regular shampoo and with the larger face brushes I also use a conditioner just to make it soft and help with the shaping of the brush.

Rewiev of L'oréal Super Liner Silkissime

I've been using L'oréal Super Liner Silkissime for about a week now and I really like it. It has it's positive sides along with some few negative.

Let's start with the positive.
It is truly black! I love that you don't get a dark dark grey or something nearly black, it's just black. It has a bit glossy finish wich might put someone of but I don't care.
It's truly waterproof and smudge proof. It won't get you all day long with a completely black waterline but black enough and atleast for the first few hours. As a liner along your lashline it's a dream, wont smudge or fade at all. I can have quite watery eyes but it stays put and doesn't blend with the eyeshadow as alot of other liners I've tried out.

Negative:
It dries too quick. It might be something odd to put on a negative list but if you want to blend it you have to do it the second after you've applied it or it will dry and be unmovable. Not great if you want to use it as a black base. If you don't care about that then put it on the positive side.
It's quite expensive to be a "drugstore" product. I'm not saying it's expensive since it's about €10-11 but it's still something above what I would expect for an eyeliner from L'oréal.

All in all. I love the eyeliner as a liner but it's not as versitile as alot of other liners are.
Will I buy it again? I surely would!

Rewiev of Olay Essentials Refreshing Face Wash

I've been using the Olay Essentails Refreshing Face Wash for about a week now and here are some of my thoughts about it.
It smells absolutely lovely, as I'm allergic to strong perfumes I can say that it's not to strong at all and it doesn't really linger to long either, a great plus on that.
As for cleansing, it doesn't take away makeup as much as I would want it to. Now why this is important to me is because I (as many others) am quite lazy with cleaning my skin before bed and every step I can skip I will (on a daily basis, I clean it thoroughly every time I shower though). Now with this I have to use some kind of makeup remover or clean it twice to get my makeup of. For me this makes me wanting something else, if you're not that kind of a person this is a great product.
It really leaves the skin soft and mosturized after the wash and I love the feel of it.
It has a quite funny texture, something in between a gel and slime. When you put it in your hand you can press down on it and not like smearing it. I can't really explain it but it is nothing like your ordinary soap. And you just have to use a tiny amount (size of your fingertip) to get a lather that will clean your face, however to get the small amount needed you really have to try to not get to much product. On the other hand it's nothing you can't live with spending the product since it is really cheap! 150 ml for approx. £3 (in Sweden around 70 kr).

Now on the down side and this is a really small note.
Unfortunately I'm allergic to it. This is something that kinda startles me because on the face I can't feel a thing but my hands dry out quicker than quick and  gives me cracks from dryness, just on the hands! Now I'm allergic to alot of soaps so I'm not really surpriced about that but the fact that it's only on the hands and not the face makes me confused.

Because of that last thing I won't be repurchasing it (will use it up though) but I really do recommend it to everyone sensitive skin or not because it's a great product.

If I weren't allergic to it it would probably get an 8 out of 10 bearing in mind that I rather want a face wash taking my makeup of completely, or atleast better than this one does.

Minimini Haul

Since I needed a new face wash and a new eyeliner I went out and bought it today.
Facial wash wise I had a soap that I loved and that took away makeup like a dream but they stopped making it and since then I've been on the look for a new one but haven't found any that have been as good so now I tried a new one again and hopefully it'll be great!

Eyeliner wise I've been using Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Liner basically since it first came out and I love it. It's waterproof (though smudges a little) and just great. But it's soooo soft that everytime I sharpen it it kinda breaks again. Anyways now the cap is longer then the liner and I actually went out to buy another one but found one from L'oréal instead that's supposed to be waterproof and smudge free so lets see how it does.
As far as I can say it is rather soft and extremly waterproof, tried to wash it of with my new face wash and after alot of rubbing I still have some residue on my arm. It's very black aswell but seem to have a shiny finish.

More reviews about the product will come when I had the time to try them out a little bit.

Pisco wanted to see if I got him anything and refused to move :P

As for the rest of my life I had an exam yesterday and have another one on Friday so I don't have alot of time for the blog.

When Inspiration Runs Low

Lately I've been in this state where I really want to do fun make up looks but I just don't have the inspiration to it. It kinda feels like I've done everything, used every shadow, every technique, everything.
Now of course this isn't the truth but I just can't think of inspiring things to do. I think we've all been there.

My solutions so far:
Google something. Like anything (jibberish like nhigoewhurg works fine), then look at the picture-results and try to find a picture I like and can get inspiration from.
YouTube something. Now here I'm at a halt because I really feel I've done everything I like there.
Ask friends to come up with colour suggestions. Usually I ask for one or two colours and whatever they say I have to use it!

My newest (and probably most challenging) addition
Random.org

This is not a new website or anything but I decided to make a list over my eyeshadows in the 100 pc palettes from ELF, giving each shadow different names (like 1.1, 1.2, 2.3 and so on) and writing them in the list, then I created the randomized list. This won't give you a certain number of shadows to use, just swap around the placement of the shadows you put in so I used their number generator and chose a range from 1-10 and it gave me number 5.
So I decided to use shadows 1-5 from the list I created.

Obviosly this can give you totally horrendous colour combinations, but that's the fun and challenging part. How to create a look with all the colours given and not end up looking like a clown.
I had such luck that it gave me two purple, a blue, a white and a brown shadow. Nothing to hard to mix.

Of course you can make up your own "rules" about how to use the random-generator. This is just how I did it and I thought it was a fun and different way of deciding what to use.
You could do a "highlighter list", "eyelid list", "crease list" and so on if you want to make sure to get it all (otherwise you might end up with a random number of dark shadows but nothing colourful or highlighting)

Also, if you want to this more than once I suggest you save your shadow-list somewhere on the computer so you don't have to make a new list every time you want to do a new look. That's probably the most time consuming part.

Here's the look I created (sorry for the low quality editing, I just wanted to do this really quick before I wen't to work)

Ps: parts 2 & 3 of the Marble Palette Review will be up soon, I just can't find the time to edit the pictures!

ELF 100 pc Marble Eyeshadow Palette Review Part 1

There's a little funny story about when I bought this palette. It was the weekend before my birthday and ELF (eyes lips face) had an offer so I decided to order but wasn't sure if I should since I didn't know if my sister had bought it for me for my birthday or not.
However I decided to buy it and on my birthday I got the gift from my sister, start to unwrap it but stop and she said "Don't tell me you did something stupid" and I said "I think I have", yes my sister bought it for me! But then I just gave my to mum instead when it arrived so problem solved!

On to the actual review.
The name of the palette says pretty much everything, it is a palette with 100 shadows and some of them (11 if I counted right) have a marbled effect, meaning the shadow has two different colours. This is not an overspray its genuinely two shadows from top to bottom (can't really swear about that since I haven't hit pan on any).
The size of the palette is ~ 23.5 x 19 cm and about 1.5 cm high. The shadows are ~ 1.5 x 2 cm which is a decent size for the price!

The range of colours are amazing, there are alot of neutrals (about half the palette) and alot of brights with a lot of different textures. Unlike the "regular" 100 pc Eyeshadow Palette this one has alot of matte colours and not mainly frosty as the regular one has. This was probably the selling point for me, not the marble shadows. All in all the marble palette is much more appealing with the bright colours than the regular.

For those who love bright colours like me I recommend to buy both since the colours are really different, if you only want to buy one of them, go with the marble. If you prefer neutrals you could go either way, the regular have more darker browns and the marble one have more light beige/golden colours but I wouldn't get both since they are pretty much the same on the neutral side.

Now to the quality of the shadows.
I find this one to be a little less powdery than their other shadows and the shadows are alot softer. It's really like petting a cat to put them on your fingers. They are quite hard to swatch (which you will see in the swatch-parts of this review) especially the matte colours, but as long as you use a primer/base they look beautiful on the eyes!
They are pigmented and stay vivid all day long (again, as long as you use a primer/base). I wouldn't use them wet since this will ruin the colours (did that mistake with my other 100 palette).
As for the marbled eyeshadows, I'm not really a big fan of them usually since they usually always become a dirty mix of the colours, but that's not the case for these ones. The colours don't really mix with each other (you'll see what I mean when you see the swatches) so you either get two colours or only one of them will show up, with an exception for the frosty/shimmery colours where the shadows mix and becomes beautiful colours. But I will talk a little bit more about that in the swatch-posts.

For this review not to be super long and crowded with pictures I will include close ups and swatches in parts 2 and 3!
You can find the palette here

Sorry for the pictures being skew, it's not the easiest palette to photograph.

Until next parts here's a look made completely with this palette (over NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk)

Relaunching the blog... Again

So, last September my computer died, the blog did as well. Then I thought I solved the problem and started blogging again, but then it died completely. Unfortunately I didn't have a computer for 3 months, so the blog kinda died with it.
But now I'm back! I'll try to update it atleast once a week (bearing in mind I study at full time and work part time) but as often as I can.

Right now I'm doing a blogpost about the ELF (Eyes Lips Face) 100 pc Marble Eyeshadow Palette and as soon as I'm done with that I'm going to compose some various posts to hopefully get buffer :)

Nail Challenge: NOTD

Todays nailpolish is Dolce Blue by Pieces.
It's what I would like to describe as a matte jeans-blue colour and I feel that it's a quite unique colour. As you will notice I'm quite a sucker for (bright) blue nailpolishes that maybe isn't something for everyone but I really like it!

Nail Challenge

Okay so my friend and I had a "girls-night" with sushi and Pretty Little Liars. On the way to the sushi restaurant she asked if she could paint her nails at my place and I said yeah and discussed how many nailpolishes I own. Though it was about 20-30, came home, counted them, realized I've got 66...
So she kind of challenged me today on wearing a new polish every time I change, not using a polish twice for 66 times.

Then I thought, why not make a blog-thing about it aswell showing you the different nailpolishes.
Starting of today (since we decided this nailpolish should count). Sorry for the horrible pictures, I've had this polish on for a couple of days, and even worked with it (no topcoat can save the polish from my work).

The polishes are ELF Purple Pleaser and Claudia No. 158 Sparkling Silver

I will only count the Purple Pleaser polish though since I've got to use all polishes by themselves (with an exception from the crackle ones ofcourse).

I'm on holiday!

Haha, so I'm going away to my boyfriends granddad's birthday party and so I thought I'd show you another of my interest, namely photographing.
These pictures were taken either when I was on a weeks field trip with my class, or when I went to Gotland with my siblings and boyfriend.

Enjoy :)

Haha I was kinda bored and decided to play with some makeup I rarely use, this was the finished look :P

Well that was just a minor picture-bomb for you.
Have a great weekend!

MOTD (Make-up of the Day)

Trying to get back to blogging and therefore I have to show you the look I did today before I got to work.
As usual when I don't know what I'm going to do I ask someone (this time my boyfriend) about what colours I should use. Though today he wasn't that helpful as he wanted me to mix orange with either red or yellow (well I do use those colours) but I thought it was quite boring so I googled this picture (well I googled "nature" and saw this picture) and made an eyelook out of it.

Thought it was so pretty colours in it that I just had to make something of it.
Again, since I took these pictures right before I had to go to work they're not the greatest quality but bear with me!

June Go-To-Product

Some months ago (actually almost a year ago) I bought the Eye Transformer from E.L.F (eyes lips face).
I maybe used it just to try it out but then I just put it away somewhere and kinda never used it again, until recently.
I can probably say it's my most used product of June except for the usual things like foundation, mascara and so on.

You can use it different ways: on it's own for just a bit of colour, on top of an eyeliner/base, on top of other shadows etc etc etc.

Just to give you some pictures on this awesome product I took quick swatches just after I got home from work, bear this in mind since the quality is kinda crappy.

(On top of ELF eyelid primer in Sheer. From left-right green, yellow/golden, red/pink, blueishpurple)

Just look at the blueish one!! Seriously, if I could marry it I would :P

It's only £3.75 or €4.50 and it is worth buying!

New Camera :D

So today I spontaneously bought a camera :D A Canon PowerShot SX240 HS (reminding you all that cameras have different names in different countries for some weird reason).

Apart from buying the camera I happened to buy to pair shoes (well four since I bought one pair for my sister and one pair as Mother's Day gift for my mother)

Now I will try to figure out a good setting and filming place to film a tutorial for the blog :) I've fought about this tutorial for a while, nothing fancy at all just something I would like to share.

As of now you will have to live with pictures of the shoes I bought for my mother, sister and me :)

My mothers, that's her favourite colour :) Hope she'll like them

My sisters, she bought a pair last year quite similar to these but they didn't fit so I found these and asked her if I should buy them to her (and I will get her old ones :D)

I actually hate sandals for some reason, just can't seem to find any I like so I decided why not go full out and get a pair that's semiugly but still really fun to have :)

The wether here is btw really weird, it was sunny and warm when I went to the mall so I only wore mini-shorts and a t-shirt then it started to drizzle, then it got sunny and now it's pouring down rain again...

Anyways, of to film a tutorial :D

Girls night, hair cut and cat poo

So this will be a post about a lot of things.

I'll start with Saturday, me and a friend was studying for an exam and decided to have a girls night afterwards as a reward. We ate sushi and I did her make up. She rearly wears eyeshadow so it's fun to do something extra :)
Since I wanted to have a lot of options I kinda just threw down everything that I might use depending on what she was supposed to wear. The pic below illustrates how much (even though it might not look like much) I took with me. Bear in mind that we were only two :P

It's maybe 150 eyeshadows, 15 eyeliners, several lipliners some lipsticks and glosses, kinda much for only two looks :P
I have to count all my eyeshadows some day just for fun. I think it's around 400-500 now but I'm not sure. Threw away a lot of old shadows when I moved (even though I probably still have increased the number of shadow since then ^^)

To subject number two: hair cut :D
I've been cutting my hair for soon 10 years, before that my mum or sister cut it (only been to a hairdresser once and I was so young I got a Barbie doll in reward for being good ^^). I also cut friends hair and even my boyfriend.
For a long time now I knew I had to cut my hair 'cause it was kinda damaged but I just haven't found the time or motivation to do it.
Before today... or rather tonight. I'm home alone and I wasn't tired so I stayed up watching TV and then decided to cut my hair. At 1 am... that's kinda usual for me though, I think the latest (or perhaps earliest) was 3 am.
Anyways.
I really just wanted to cut the edges since I'm trying to save out my hair and make it one lenght instead of the sequences I've had for ages now. Then I got an idea... I've thought about it for a while now, to braid the hair and then cut it. Not like chop it of but trim the edges of the part that's not braided.
So that's what I did :P
I had to trim it a little bit after (and it's really sequenced again) but all in all it turned out okay. Alot shorter than I initially wanted but hey, it's after all spring/summer so why not, and it will grow out again :)
The best part was that I cut alot of hair that I would've had problem to cut any other way. But I suppose I have to wait until it's completely dry to see if there's something I have to change/cut.

And this leads us on to part three, the least fun part...
While I was in the bathroom cutting my hair I noticed that my cat had pooped on the bathroom carpet and inside a magazine lying on the floor.
The funny thing was that she'd turned the first page, pooped and then closed the magazine again so you didn't notice that she'd done it. Smart cat :P
So then I had to clean that up aswell.

End of today's ranting and maybe I should go to sleep since it's nearly 3 am and I have school tomorrow :P
Nighty night

Work, school, work, school

Okay so this thing about having a blog and both working and studying full time doesn't seem to be the best.
I actually got fired (due to lack of money) but the day before my (supposedly) last day my boss asked me if I wanted to work for another two months since another girl should be gone for the two months. So now I'm "stuck" there for another month (since this happened a month ago).

Well to summarize my life when I'm not in school I'm at work or sleeping. And when I'm not doing any of that I'm being with my friends, boyfriend and kitten (who's not so much of a kitten anymore).

I'm going to buy a new camera soon so I can do some filming reviews of products and tutorials.

Now I'm back to my books for the exam I have on Tuesday but I'll give you a pics of my cat when she was just 9 weeks old

The Horrors of Technology

This blog post has nothing what so ever to do with makeup I just have to write this!

So amongst the things in my life that's not makeup I'm a complete technology freak. And one of the first (or more like the 100th) rules in technology is that when your about to do a large update or change something large on the computer you Should do a back up if anything goes to hell.
This rule does not only apply to computers but everything around technology. If you have an external hard drive you should do a back up on it, if you have an iPad or any tablet you should do a back up AND you should absolutely no matter what do a back up on your smartphone! The horrors you'll feel when you do an update and the phone doesn't work!

So during a lecture today my cellphone wanted to do a System update. It did sound harmful and I decided "Why not, I'm stuck here anyways".
The first thing it told me was "You won't be able to use your phone or make any emergency calls during this update". I thought that if anything were to happen during that lecture there was alot of phones to make emergency calls so I pressed update.
It worked fine and after the update it Tried to restart.... It was on the loading screen forever and then didn't work what so ever! I tried to reboot after reboot but nothing helped it was dead.

When I got home I tried to google any soloutions but the only thing everybody said was to factory reset the phone which I didn't want to do since I haven't done a backup. I tried and tried for two hours and then just left the phone and decided to leave it until tomorrow and if it still didn't work then do a backup (for now it booted I just couldn't use it) and then do the factory reset.
Came back two hours later, looked at the phone and it wanted me to lock up the simcard which I couldn't do before and now the phone works again :D
It's very very slow and some things still is a bit fucked up but all in all it works :)

Use of language...

Okay, so this post is not about make up, or at least not make up products, more make up-gurus.

I was watching a make up tutorial on YouTube just a few minutes ago. It was made by an Italian girl on Italian, at first I didn't notice the comments but one of top rated was about her not speaking English in her video.
For me this seems perfectly normal for more than one reasons.

1. Large parts of the Italian population don't speak English very well. If you come to the big tourist cities sure, they will know some English and some of them very well, but for the most parts Italians don't speak English.
2. When you upload videos to something like YouTube and it gets viewed you probably will face hate. If you're not completely comfortable with the language someone probably will comment that as well.
3. If you're not interested in international viewers then why put up with the hate according to reason number two?

There's probably alot more reasons and I very well know that everything isn't as black and white as I put it there but still, why is it so hard to understand why one want to talk one's mother language instead of a language one might not speak very well?!

Now for me it's a different thing, I see English as my second language and alot of times I find myself talking English even to myself (not saying my English is perfect because I know it's not). And since I'm only writing and not showing everything on camera it's alot harder to get everyone to understand (especially when I want to reach a larger group of people than only Swedes).

Which brings me on to another thing, how hard is it to watch a tutorial without sound (if it bothers you that it's not in English)?
I would understand if the person watching is new to putting on make up and actually want it spelled out, but as soon as you get into make up you can get things out of just watching. I wouldn't mind watching and arabic, greek, african video that's not in English as long as it's filmed so you get the purpose of what the person is doing.

I suppose this is enough ranting and I want to give somewhat a shoutout to two people who I follow that makes videos or blog post's in more than one language

http://www.youtube.com/user/MissChievous Swizz-Canadian girl who does most of her videos in English but some of them in German
http://www.23rdmarch.com/ Polish girl who writes in both English and Polish (which is good for me since I wouldn't understand shit otherwise)

Long time no see

Okay, so I never figured I would be this swamped by school but I seriously haven't got the time to do much but studying and working.
Since I'm let go from work last March I hopefully have the time to blog a little bit more than I have been doing.

Anyways I'm going to share some of my thoughts the last couple of days before I'm going back to my studying (got an exam this friday).

After a quite short and weird winter the spring is on the run at least for a couple of days now. And what is more fun than make up in the spring and summer? Alot of events to go to and so on.
But it's not all of the days that make up with foundation and everything seems to appealing, but wearing no make up doesn't seem to fun either. So the solution? Well everybody already heard about Tinted moisturizer but might find it a bit hard finding one that's covering enough or not to expensive.
So the soloution to that? Some might already heard about that as well, it's definately not my idea, but for those of you who haven't this is the greatest thing ever. Simply blend your foundation with your moisturizer. The great thing is that you don't have to spend alot on a foundation, any drugstore brand is great. The moisturizer can be totally drugstore but I would buy one that's a little bit on the expensive side (not the most expensive but not the cheapest one) and if you're exposed to sun, buy a moisturizer or foundation with SPF in it! One less product to wear.
What I tend to love is to use a matte finish on the foundation so you can skip the powder. A dewy foundation with a dewy moisturizer = horrible mess :P

Have flaky winter lips? A toothbrush with a lip sugar scrub (or make your own with sugar and water or lemonjuice) and scrub the lips until smooth, then remember to put on lipbalm, especially before bed and when you just woke up.

Last but not least, which make up product do you have lots of?
Usually people have alot of eyeshadows, eyeliners and lipsticks. Very few have alot of blushes, bronzers, mascaras and foundations. All the kinda everyday use products. A thing I've found myself buying alot the last few months are foundations. Different coloures and different finishes, and I use them for different things and occations.
It actually started with me buying a foundation from Loreal and one from Maybelline, neither one matched my skintone but together they were quite okay, but since I bought one earlier than the other I finished the first much earlier and the other one was left standing on my make up table when I decided to try out different foundations.
To make a long story short, foundations are the one thing I love to look at.

New year

Okay, so I didn't have the time to blog anything last year as I had hoped.
And now I've got exams coming up so I have to study like an idiot to that aswell.

BUT, I've been thinking about things to do, makeup to play with and alot of themes.
One theme I think I will get to first is Grey's Anatomy. Usually the girls don't have to much makup on, but sometimes I just love (especially) Addison's and Callie's make up, so I will do some from there.

And then some colorful yet really simple make up's aswell.
Oh well. Don't have anything more to say right now so have a nice week end!
