Merry Christmas

Now all the christmas shopping is done. Only the wrapping left, or well to three of my five gifts, or well three of five people I'm giving gifts tomorrow, I still have one gift left but that will be for after the holidays since my boyfriend's celebrating with his family up in the north.

Maybe I'll get another post up later depending on my lazyness. Really don't have much else to do but I'm really tired from walking in shops for about 9 hours. Oh yes the joy of being late with the shopping :P

If I'm not getting any other posts up before I wish you all a very merry christmas!

Review ELF Studio Cream Eyeshadow

First I like to say R.I.P shoes, at least I had you for three days and got to wear you once. When I got to the shop where I bought them they said that they were not allowed to sell them anymore 'cause a certain heel-falling-of-issue so I only got my money back. (note that I started writing this blogpost ages ago but haven't got it up until now, still I feel the urge to keep this sidenote about the death of my shoes)

Oh well, of to a new review about my loved package from ELF.
This time it's the new Studio Cream Eyeshadows that's on the menu.

I've never tried any of these before so didn't really have any expectations or anything, just thought it would be nice bases and wanted to try them out. It's a really great product and you can trust what they say about long-lasting. Wore one of them today with no primer and Tropical Teal on top and even now >12 hours later, no creasing or fading.

So I only tried two colours since I didn't know if I liked them or not and they were Teal Party and Purple Pleaser.

I really really really like these cream eyeshadows! They're pigmented but can easily be blended out or kept pigmented. They stay on and do not crease at all (as far as I've noticed). Usually I have a primer anyways so that can be why they don't crease but I've tried them without as well and haven't noticed any sewere creasing.
They work excellent as a base aswell even though they dry pretty quickly so I like to do one eye at a time when I use them as bases so the one eye I do last (usually the left one) don't dry before I get to it.

Swatch time!

Purple Pleaser is a very warm-toned purple with a hint of gold to it, not at all as blue as the pigment Passionate Purple. Don't really now how to put my thoughts into words but I find it quite convenient when in use as a base. That's a strange sentence but what I mean is that it doesn't have alot going on by it self and therefore won't interfere with the shadow used on top of it, it just makes them pop.

Teal Party also have alot of goldenish undertones, it's more like Tropical Teal (the pigment) as a cream shadow. For some reason I don't like to use this by it self as much as I like using Purple Pleaser on its own. I find it quite boring and, not really ugly, but something like that. What I'm trying to say is that it isn't really a good all-over-colour.

On the swatches you can see that Teal Party almost has no change in colour only more pigmented when Purple Pleaser on the other hand only makes the pigment pop with no change of colour, except for the blended version where the blueish tones of Passionate Purple doesn't show up, but on the other hand if you look at the dry swatches of Passionate Purple it has almost no blue showing up.

My overall opinion about the Cream Eyeshadows are that I like them, the statements on the ELF homepage are quite accurate even if I don't think they're pictures are to true (the teal is more blue and the purple more pink). They are easy to blend or keep pigmented and I do like them as bases. I will absolutely get more of the colours.

Absence

So I know I haven't been writing here for awhile now and I really really wanted to. I've had a cold now for two weeks and in addition to that last week I got another cold that decided to *peep* my sense of balance so now I havn't been able to do much besides lay in bed. Or that's what I'm supposed to do.
To ramble a little bit more about that there's a point in illness where the body tells you to stop, rest and take care of yourself. When you don't it'll get worse and worse untill you do. I'm well past that point and I still force myself to go to school (well only on the mandatory things) and work (not so mandatory but I still do it). Keeping this in mind, when I'm actually home I'm so tired and dizzy that all I can do is sleep or do something that doesn't make me use my head (i.e. watching Grey's Anatomy).

Now I'm feeling a bit more motivated to write so if my boyfriend didn't bring his camera with him I'm going to take pictures of everything I got when I was absence from the blog and do another post about it. Also I'll continue my blog-post about ELF Cream Eye Shadows so I can post that soon aswell.

For now I'm hopeing everybody's doing better than me and haveing a great week!

Makeupaholic

Okay, so my sister and I went out yesterday to buy presents for my mother's birthday today. I got home with alot for myself, and doing this a little bit like a "haul" I suppose I'm going to show you everything I got (for myself since I wrapped her presents allready). That'll be in a later post since I haven't got the camera here right now

Now about makeupaholic. I don't know how you feel but I've got alot of makeup, not super much but alot more than I actually use on regular basis. And even though I've got makup to create looks for a whole year without needing to use much twice I always want more and more and more!
So far November (and including yesterday) I've ordered twice from ELF and in addition to that I bought three mascaras, powder, two foundations, a lipliner, a lipgloss, two eyeliners (both black but one pencil and one felt-tip pen). Can't come up with anything else now but I'm sure I've gotten something more just because I wanted it.

I really shouldn't be allowed to shop anything else this year!

(almost) Complete eye-look with ELF makeup

So this was the makeup of the day for me. Had 20 minutes (after foundation and stuff) to do the eye makeup so I decided to something a bit more fun. I'll go through quickly how I did it just for you to get a clue how much effort it is in this effort-less-looking eye look :P

Products Used: (unless stated otherwise from ELF)
Eyelid primer in Sheer
Studio Cream Eyeshadow in Teal Party (review will be up soon)
Studio Pigment Eyeshadow in Tropical Teal and Breezy Blue
Brightening Eye Colour in Teal Dream (used the teal and nude)
Studio Cream Eyeliner in Midnight
Eyebrow kit in Light
Lumene Natural Code Volume-Maximizing Mascara (only non-ELF-product)

So I started of priming my eyelid from lashes to brow and then I put Teal Party on the lid to slightly above the crease. After that I applied the natural colour from Teal Dream on the browbone and slightly blending the cream eyeshadow. Then I wet my brush and used Tropical Teal (gettin confused by all the teal names yet?!). I like using them wet even though I now used both primer and a base, it's just easier, but I could use it dry aswell. Put it only on the lid up to the crease but not further.

Then I took the teal colour from Teal Dream and put it in the crease and slightly above just to make the blending a little bit easier and make the edges fade (since I noticed it's the exact same colour as Teal Party). Then I wet my blending brush, but only a very little bit. It was bearly damp, but just enough to make Breezy Blue pop a little more. Then I put it in the crease blending upwards and not going to far in the inner-corner of the eye.

I applied eyeliner to upper and lower lashline and also in the waterline. If you're uncertain if your eyes can take their cream eyeliners skip that step and just put in on the lashlines.
I don't have very sensitive eyes, and have only found it to irritate my eyes once during allergy season. But always try a new eyeliner to see if you can use it on your waterline. Slightest itch and you should wash it of immediately!

Put on mascara and do your brows (if wanted) and you're done. The whole eye look took me almost exactly 20 minutes.
